Ah yes, Karen and Michelle watched as we did our dance. A bit later one of them (no, I don't know which one is which!) asked me to show her the Hitch Kick. It went well, except for her landing on my toe. Fortunately, she looks like a stick insect anyway, so it didn't even hurt…

One performance I do remember: There was one very muscular-looking guy who had to dance by himself — presumably because nobody else entered for that category or something. So he did disco with an entire half to himself. He was really good. We all laughed at the look he gave the judge though. Heh. I'm totally trying that IRL!

Oh, and a pair of teenage boys did disco with half to themselves. Man, that was vicious! They were practically trying to dance on top of each other! :o

I'm loving what Nicole said on Wednesday. To quote her, "I just think we're not very good".

Yeah, that's about the size of it.

Probably the most memorable thing, though, was watching Debbie do the Maddison.

My little sister once asked me "How old is Debbie now? She must be getting on it bit." Yeah, like that is ever going to stop her! :P

A quick check and the index only goes up to 7.9 and used to be 6 so I'm guessing they had to hoik up the max due to processor changes and not hard-drive ones hence it staying 'the same'.

400KB/sec is what I'm getting when lucky. A plethora of BT Openreach vans around at the moment on my side of the river so fingers crossed for this summer.

Both my drives are 7200 RPM. They're also both connected to a SATA 6GB/s controller. (Whether they support the new SATA speed is another matter…) So I can only imagine you need an SSD to get a number better than 5. :P

And yes, I was quite surprised to be getting 4MB/sec. (That's useful data actually transferred, not line speed rating.) Especially since 8PM on a Sunday night is probably not the quietest time. Before the upgrade, 400KB/sec was about the best.

When I originally purchased Crysis, it took several hours to download.

And playing it is faster now too. ;-)

In all honesty, this is the first time I've actually noticed a change in speed. For surfing the web or reading your email, the extra speed makes no difference at all. And the fastest connection in the world won't help you download your motherboard drivers because the server is in China! :(

"It’s not like harddrives come in different speeds or anything…" Yeah except the 5400rpm or the 7200rpm models; differences in seek times; solid state drives etc :-)

"The entire 7GB download look about 15 minutes on our new super-fast broadband"

Now seething with jealousy; supposedly we getting fibre-optic in my town though as we're divided by a river whether it makes it to my side or not is a question not being answered.
