And so ends the real first day of my desultory effort at performing a job search.

My Grand Plan was to have a week off work so I could finally got on with making some real effort to get a better job. Monday was a nice diversion. Tuesday my mum happened — not much you can do about that — but now half the week is gone, and I’ve still done precisely nothing so far!

Today I decided to get on with the task. The problem, however, is that essentially I have no clue how to look for jobs. I mean, I’ve done all the obvious things and nothing has produced any results at all. I’m not sure what to do next.

In the old days…

When I was a very small child (no, wait, come back!), my mum used to be a child-minder. Our house would always have about 5 or 6 kids in it besides me and my sister, and some of us got to be quite good friends. My mum was always very organised. (Well you’d have to be to survive!) We’d do painting, and bake things. (My favourite was cheese straws!) We had playdough, and that weird custard-powder mixture with dilatant properties. One time we even built a big wigwam in our front room, which we spent ages painting with fabric dyes.

Yesterday morning, I was woken over an hour early by a fly buzzing round my head. I spent all of yesterday feeling extremely tired as a result. (I mean, hell, I’m tired when I don’t get woken up early!)

Revenge was mine though. When I arrived home yesterday evening, I found the creature’s dessicated corpse on my bedside table. Apparently it wouldn’t handle the insane temperatures in my bedroom. (+28°C when I arrived.)
