The Race of Champions

Well, yesterday I went to the Race of Champions at Wembly stadium.

A day of mixed dissapointments

Yesterday I posted about how neat my calendar from Zazzle is. Today I’m revising my opinion. I picked up the calendar in a certain way, and all the pages fell out. On closer inspection, the gap in the wire binding is very wide! I have now sewn it up with some cotton thread, having just spent 20 minutes putting all the pages back in. Hmm.

Also, today we finally turned the water back on my our house. Yay! And it only took until 10:30 PM. (I can’t begin to tell you how bad a toilet smells after not being flushed for many, many days.) Apparently the new taps are leaking though, so we had to turn the water off again once the loft tank finished refilling. (So we’re not completely without water, but still suboptimal.)

Oh well, I’m going to Wembly tomorrow. Let’s see what happens there. (No doubt I’ll have to be the go-between for my mum and “the traitor”. *sigh*)

Zazzle

Last night, I got home to find a parcel from Zazzle. Yays!

Oh, wait. I was hoping this was the stack of Christmas cards I had printed. Actually it’s just the fractal calendar I ordered. Odd… they were both posted on the same day.

Well anyway, the calendar is awesome. The printing is crisp and sharp, and it just looks lovely. (I’m not too sure I like the page for June, but other than that…) Curiously, the wire bending is fairly bent. Presumably it got knocked around in transit or something.

Don’t you just hate it when…

…people write “i.e.” when they actually mean “e.g.”?

…people insist on using a spreadsheet when they should really use a database?

…people say “object orientated programming” instead of “object oriented programming”?

…food packets say “resealable” on them?

…Micro$oft claims their products are innovative, useful and robust?

…companies repeatedly offer you loans you don’t want?

…you play a game, and no matter what you do, you loose?

…nobody likes you?

Back at work

Ah, it’s good to be back at work again. [By which I mean that it isn’t good at all!]

Someone’s PC has caught a virus. [Well, actually no, Trojan horse program.] The AV cleaned it multiple times, but failed to remove the startup hook that keeps reinstalling it. Well, that was easy to fix. The question remains as to how it got there — but the AV detected and deleted a cached Java “jar” file and several web cache files, so…

Every year we have a raffle where the stores guys get rid of all the useless crap we get given as freebies. I wasn’t here on the day, but I have just been presented with my winning. This consists of Tiffany, minion of the antichrist. I think she’s meant to look cute and cuddly, but due to the way her plastic fur is laying, she appears to have a demonic scawl on her face. Coupled with her ridiculously blue eyes, it’s quite unsettling.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to restore some data from the backup tapes. Somebody edited something they shouldn’t have…

My moniez… let me showz u dem

For about a year now, every bank statement I’ve received has been the same. £1,000 goes in, and roughly £1,100 goes out. And every month it’s because of some one-off expense that month. And every month I think “gee, if that hadn’t happened, it would have been OK”.

And every month there’s a different “one-off” expensive in there.

Well anyway, in October, only £900 went out. Yays!

But in November, something Special happened. That month, I only spent £190! This, surely, must count as some kind of world record or something. That’s, like, 10x less than usual! :-o

Anyway, I should have kept quiet. My mum has now worked out that I didn’t give her any rent for November. :-s (Rent is £250 per month…)
