I am writing this message from my office in the new building.
Unlike my original “office”, which was merely an area of corridore, this office has actual walls and a door and stuff.
On the other hand, I am still miles away from everybody else. In particular, the main office area is now populated only by females. And for the past week, they’ve all been coming to work in their leisure-ware. Damn, they look even more attractive than normal! o_O
Things are still pretty hectic here. I’m just taking a few minutes rest so I can write this post, and then I have to dash off and do 50,000 other tasks…

Wet

I was just in the new building when it started raining. And then some guy tells me that there’s a PC in the old building that isn’t working right and it needs to be fixed right now. It can’t wait.
I got soaked to the skin. And let me be clear here: my skin was actually covered in a measurable volume of water when I took my shirt off. (I figured if I kept the shirt on I’d catch pnumonia or something.) I’m not very happy. Anyway, I fixed the PC now…
PS. Obviously it’s now bright sunshine.

Pushed to the limit

I am really not having a good day. And it’s not even noon yet.
This morning I found out (I wasn’t told, I accidentally found out) that the guys from HQ are migrating all our data to the new server. The new server that hasn’t been formally commissioned yet and shouldn’t be in use yet. The new server that doesn’t have a working tape drive yet. The new server that isn’t mentioned in our data backup procedure yet. Yes, that server. The guys from HQ completely fail to see how this is an issue.

Back to the madhouse

I am so sorry the weekend is over.
Currently I’m sitting at my desk. The building is half-empty. There are no other people here. It’s quite eery. No people, no furnature, just empty space and dust. It kind of feels like the end of the world or something.

Welcome

OK, so this morning our Director of IT and his right hand man arrived from HQ to come set up our network in the new building. [Obviously, I’m just the tea boy. I couldn’t possibly do this myself…]
I find it interesting that when they walked in the door, they were introduced to our receptionists, our accountant, our lab manager, but they didn’t even look at me. But hey, I’m just the tea boy, why would they be interested in me?
I don’t know where they’ve gone now, but they don’t appear to be in the building. Presumably there on the new site. [Apparently some contractor or something wants to mount some equipment in the back of our server rack. I don’t think that should be a problem, but I haven’t actually seen the rack…] I wonder if I’ll get to speak to them at some point? At any rate, as far as I’m aware, I’m the only person who knows where all the equipment that meant to be going into that rack is currently stored. But we’ll see.
