Extracurricular activities

So on Sunday I got a text from Pam telling me where the event at Roade has been moved to. She says it’s one place, Royal Mail claims the postcode refers to somewhere else. Anyway, I drove over there and had a look. Doesn’t seem hard to find, but it looks very small and run down. We’ll see if this turns out to be any good… I also had a look at the club in Roade. The sheet of paper tied to the gate informs me that the land owner has “peaceably rentered the property due to non-payment of rent”. So there.

On Monday I sent Lynn a text telling her I’d found the new venue. She thanked me for my company (and more importantly my dancing) on Saturday. Says she had a great time. Oh, and would I like to come over and chill out one evening. Apparently the house she’s looking after has a tile floor in the kitchen, and she’s hoping I might show her a few new dance moves. Well I’m not likely to turn that down, am I? ;)

A quiet night out

Last night, as arranged, I had a nice night out with Lynn.

She did say something about going ice skatting, but the place is only open Tuesday and Friday nights. So instead, we visited her horse Echo, and then we spent the evening at the Black Horse. She bought me drinks all night (I was only drinking J2O), and we chatted for hours on end. In fact, we didn’t leave until 11 or so. And even then we didn’t go directly home.

I’ve agreed to take Lynn to Far Cotton tomorrow. It turns out her friend Lavinia (not Olivia like I keep thinking it is!) wants to come too, so I’m giving them both a lift there. From Wednesday it looks like there won’t be too many other people I know, but hopefully me and Lynn will have a laugh together if nothing else. (The detour on the way home was so I could see where I’m picking the girls up from.)

Presumably tonight is my last Ballroom & Latin class until next month. Hopefully that’ll go smoothly, and then I’ve got tomorrow night to look forward to. (Assuming I can find this place!)

Playing to an audience

As arranged, I spent my Saturday morning with Lynn. (My mother was not happy about this, but hey, I’m entitled to a social life!) When I came to pick her up, she walked out of her house talking to someone on her phone and brandishing a toothbrush. How’s that for random? Apparently her sister phoned while she was trying to brush her teeth. Anyway, I poked my head inside her house while she scampered around getting herself ready. (Speaking of random, she doesn’t have a rocking horse. She has a rocking sheep.)

Not always successful

Well, last night I decided to head over to the New Inn to see if anybody from the dance class would be there. As it is, I spent the whole evening alone. Oh well! Maybe next time…

PS. £2.20 for a pint of lemonade? :o

Fun times

Well, I spend last night in the company of an old friend. (Hey! She’s only 45.) We went out for a meal together. As always, we talked for hours, and yet I was still sorry to see her go. But hey, we had a great time anyway.

And then there was cake

Friday began uneventfully enough. At break time, we were all called into the tea room for an announcement. I was pretty sure they were going to announce the liquidation of the company — but when I actually arrived at the tea room, I got a birthday cake pushed into my face, complete with a burning Three Zero. (And everybody standing around the room staring at me.) Heh, I didn’t think that anybody had actually noticed it was my birthday!

Love strife

In a sad attempt to get a girl, I am currently signed up to just about every Internet dating website known to mankind. And have been for almost a decade now.

Unfortunately, dating websites have several problems.

Are you nervous?

So, last weekend the annual gathering of the NERV clan occurred. Suffice it to say this involved a bunch of Internet weirdos driving out to Ancaster, camping out by the lake. There was beer, fly-up breakfasts, barbecue suppers, karting, bowling and paint-balling.
