How many Haskell programmers does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but he doesn’t actually do anything until you try to turn the light on.

How many Prolog programmers does it take to change a light bulb?
No.

(That last is, IMHO, pure comedy gold, right there!)

It’s just as well really. XKCD is managing to be pretty unamusing just at the moment. (Although that recent one about the liar paradox was one of the few that actually made me laugh for real.) And Ctrl+Alt+Del is currently doing a very depressing story arc. Basically it looks like every cool thing that has ever happened in CAD is now rapidly being undone.

I saw this in the local paper the other day, and thought of you…

Jobless up despite growth — well done!

ANYONE who doubts the genius of our local leaders should be directed immediately to the latest quarterly unemployment update.

At the dawn of the millennium unemployment in Milton Keynes languished below 1.5 per cent, half the national average and slightly below the regional average.

Over the last eight years the national economy has created over 1.5 million extra jobs but today, after several years of sustained effort by Milton Keynes Council, English Partnerships and the rest, unemployment in Milton Keynes has increased to 2.5 per cent.

It now stands 64 per cent above the regional average, and it is also above the national average — for the first time ever?

Steadily increasing unemployment during several years of growth is a very considerable achievement. Well done to all concerned!

I can just imagine Phil writing a piece like that you know.
