Yeah, unexpected technical issues took it offline, and then my provider took a long time to put it back online again. What can I say? That’s the patented 99.999% uptime guarantee, right? (Oh, but because my site was up, just not the CGI stuff that powers the blog, that doesn’t count, see?)

Anyway, I’m just glad I can once again easily access my bookmarks…

My blog currently has 200+ user accounts registered, and hardly a day goes by when I don’t receive more registration notifications. (I can’t actually find a way to turn off the emails, but hey…) Most of these accounts have names like cheapusedcars and so on. Quite what the point of registering them is, I have no idea. I presume it’s scripted.

Anyway, I’m going to go delete all these ghost accounts. If I accidentally delete yours by mistake, just go re-register it. It won’t have been intensional.

Checking the small print of my web host package, it appears I’m supposed to be able to run CGI scripts written in Perl, PHP or Python.

So, I set out to test this theory. I looked up Hello World CGI scripts for all three language, put them on the host and tried to access them.

I’m getting really tired of WP eating my carefully entered formatting. I do not spend 25 minutes meticulously entering intricate formatting so WP can throw it all away and make my text look like a dog’s dinner! This is really frustrating me now.

Time to finish my WP replacement…

What the…?! Half of my blog just went 404.

Well, over the past week or so I’ve noticed all the WordPress logos gradually being replaced with 1&1 logos, and the colour scheme on the admin pages changing. My guess is somebody altered something they shouldn’t have. Let’s just hope they fix it soon…

I’ve just spent a week having a cold. That means basically I’ve been sat in my chair in my bedroom with a mountain of used tissues next to me, drinking gallons of water and playing Team Fortress 2 round the clock to try to take my mind off the pain.

Blogging doesn’t really fit into that picture anywhere. But today I’m back at work. Yay.

And best of all, even though my course was delayed by a week which should have given me plenty of time to go buy the correct supplies, since I’ve been ill for the entire week I still haven’t been able to do this. So tonight I’m once again heading over there improperly prepared. Oh good…
