Disappointing

Well, Helen said she would be in class on Wednesday, and wasn’t. I knew she wouldn’t be around for the Friday class. So I had nobody to dance with. (Except Mavis, who has a cold, and a lot of other people to sort out.) And hell, we only did the Foxtrot and the Pasodoble anyway. So all in all, a pretty boring class. I tried to talk to Nicole afterwards, and just got a facefull of abuse about how I’m “not trying” to improve my dancing because I don’t have the time or the space to do any dance practise outside of class.

After the class though, several people decided they were heading over to the pub. It seems everybody assumed I was coming with them (I presume I should be flattered?), so I did. And we didn’t leave until not long before midnight, so it can’t be that bad. There was me, Nicole, Val and some other guy who I don’t know. And Mavis turned up after a while.

The discussion seemed to focus mainly on how “the system” rewards benefits spongers and people who constantly crank out babies and does not reward hard-working honest people. But in the process, I learned a few interesting things about Nicole. And did some dancing demonstrations for Val. In all, I enjoyed myself, although I did still feel a little got-at by the various other participants.

Oh yeah, and Nicole seems to think that in a few years’ time, we might be good enough to win at Blackpool. As if that’s actually somehow a realistic possibility. :P
